Obedience: Rebuilding God's Jerusalem I (Jeremiah's Letter to the Captives)

The Word of the Lord was sent by the "pen" (may have been bamboo-Egyptians, bird feather-600 A.D., or the ivory, metal or bone stylus pen-Greeks) of Jeremiah, the faithful prophet, to the residual of God's people taken away as captives to Babylon (nation of confusion). Like the Jews, confusion and disobedience to Walk in God's Ways, Laws, Precepts, Testimonies, Commandments and Statutes, Judgments (Psalm 119:41-48) and Word, has lead away us as Christians to distant lands away from God's place(s) of promise. Where is that place? Where He is. Where His presence is. Even in captivity, His people are required to do great things in His name--for His fame. He still requires us to impact the people and the place where we are sent or taken (see Jeremiah 29:1;4-7). Our responsibilities range from small to great! However, they are not weird, or hyper-spiritual. They are everyday life actions in which God has empowered us to accomplish. One of the coolest tasks He gave us to do was/is to "seek the peace of the city...", "pray to the Lord for (peace) in it" - for you SHALL inherit THAT SAME peace." How many of us have not had that calming presence within, or for that matter, surrounding us because, we have not taken the time to seek God for the 'place' where we are. Instead, we are only looking, scheming, and planning OUR way to get out of that city! Are you. I WAS! Remember... The Jews had 70 years! They were not moving until God said it was time. What about you? How much time do you have where you are? Blessings!
