Route 66: Your Journey to Where?
Traveling on life's most famous road (Rt 66): You have to know that it is not about "THE DRIVE": the wide-open roads, interstate 40, and LOTS of people with their fast-paced speeds. It is about "THE WALK." That journey that is filled with much to see and do. It is a long trip, is it not? In God's purpose and plan, "THE WALK" has everything to do with how NARROW that road is, and less to do with "THE DRIVE." It is not about "THE SCENERY": You know, the looking around, taking in the view and snapping some really nice pictures with your NEW 'disposable' camera. What are YOU looking at, or for that matter, looking for? Are you searching for some of God's wondrous creations? How about some of that good-ole ambition--mixed in with the emotional and mental "lust of the world?" Did I mention the people we have our eyes fixed on? The ones who--if we are not careful, will lead us into that bar ditch face-down. It is however, about "THE WALK." Those steps that take you toward the "MARK" of Christ. "THE PRIZE" that we attain at the the end of the "NARROW ROAD." Take it from several people you know who are on the "NARROW PATHWAY", the "SIGHT-SEEING" is much better on THIS road. The pace is a bit slower, and it gives us plenty of time to see what God has positioned at the "REST STOPS" for you to enjoy. Lastly, it is not even about "THE DISTANCE." It may be a long way to the destination you have mapped out or punched in on MapQuest; often times those drives are empty, boring and lonesome, because they lack God's vision for your life. Once more, it is about "THE WALK." It is about the PURPOSE and DESTINATION. It may seem like a loooooong way to the end of the narrow road, but when you arrive, it would seem like it was a SHORT STROLL down LIFE's HIGHWAY to Heaven's Gates of pearl, with golden streets leading up to the throne--in the New Jerusalem. Ah, Route 66. Which one are you on?
